“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If you have ever been exposed a jury you know that they sit
around listening to two sides present their arguments for
why someone should believe them. Each side will put on
physical evidence and impassioned pleas to get you to trust
them. When the trial is over, it is up to the jury to
decide who was the most believable.
There are many ways to describe our spiritual lives; but, in
an interesting twist, one is in the form of a jury trial.
Materialism and humanism try to convince us that it’s better
for us to live in the here and now while God tells us that
there is something better in the future. In the end, it’s
up to us to decide what we choose. The decision isn’t guilt
or innocence, the decision we must reach is summed up by
Jesus who said, “No one can serve two masters; for either he
will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one
and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches.”
(Matthew 6:24) In other words, the evidence is in, the
choice is ours.
