“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Wednesday; March 19, 2008
I thought I had made it. I hoped that I had dodged the
bullet. I was optimistic that I was going to be spared …
but, this week, I got it. For weeks and even months people
around me had been getting sick and I had been able to avoid
it; but, now I am among their number. I’m not going to say
that getting this year’s round of cold and flu is
unavoidable; but, it sure seems pretty common.
While living in hopes of avoiding a seasonal illness is a
noble goal; there is another time when being unprepared can
have some serious consequences. We might live our lives
hoping that the end will be the end; but, according to
Scripture, there will be a judgment of all mankind. We
might try to slide through life wishing that we will miss
out on an eternal accountability; but, the Bible reminds us,
“… God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is
hidden, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:12)
Not preparing for the cold and flu season can produce some
inconvenience; not being prepared for eternity will be
devastating!
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
