“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

          We use the word “leader” in a variety of aspects of our lives; but, have you ever thought much about the essential role of leadership in our world?  If there is one natural and necessary leader it would be as a parent.  There is no other relationship where we have such innate responsibility nor any other place where it can pay a bigger dividend. 

          If there is a nexus between parents and leadership, then there is a correlation between the respect shown leaders and that which should be shown to parents.  When Bible reminds us, “Obey your leaders, and submit to them; for they keep watch over your souls, as those who will give an account.  Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews 13:17) it speaks to the need for parents to be respectable and children to be respectful.

          As parents, are we leading our children in the right direction?  As children, are we treating God’s surrogate leaders with the honor they deserve?  If not, there will be a breakdown that will impact us and generations to come.
