“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It’s Spring … it’s time for baseball! I am a big fan of
the national pastime for a variety of reasons; but, one of
them is that is the only major sport played without a
clock. A ballgame takes as long as a ballgame takes. The
outcome of the game is dictated by talent, not time.
Being the laidback person I am, I guess I wish the rest of
the world was built around this philosophy; but, I know that
it isn’t. Time plays a role in just about everything we do
… even in our spiritual lives. There are clocks running all
around us, even one that has an eternal impact. The First
Century writers, didn’t have clocks; but, they had an idea
of time when they noted, “Now as to the times and the
epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written
to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of
the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.” (I
Thessalonians 5:1-2).
We may not be able to see this eternal clock; but, time on
earth is limited. Are we ready for the end?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
