“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Last week, Western South Dakota got hammered by a blizzard!
Over a two day period, much of the Black Hills and western
plains of the state dealt with snow and wind that virtually
shut down that part of the region. It was a tough process;
but, for those in the drought-stricken prairies and Southern
Hills the inconvenience brought life-giving moisture.
Sometimes the troubles and trials of life can produce
something wonderful. Take, for example, Jesus. God,
incarnate, left heaven and came to earth; lived the life of
a pauper; then died the death of a common criminal.
All-in-all, it was an incredibly tough process; but, it
produced a life-giving salvation. Hundreds of years before
Jesus’ life on earth, an Old Testament prophet spoke of this
anomaly by noting, “ … He was pierced through for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The
chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His
scourging we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
What’s going on in our lives? Let remember it could be
making us better, so let’s avoid the temptation to become
bitter.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
