“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
For the past half century, every May 15th has
been observed as a national day memorializing the men and
women of Law Enforcement who have given their lives serving
our country. Annually, an average of 150 police officers
are killed – not by some invading army or in some foreign
land – but, right here at home, often at the hands of own
citizens. Today, in Washington DC, officers from around the
nation will gather with families of fallen comrades in
celebrating the lives and mourning the deaths of the 181
heroes who died in 2007 protecting us from us.
Not all of us see eye-to-eye with our police (especially
when we see their lights in our rear view mirrors); but,
this week if you happen to come across one of them, thank
them for the jobs they do. Better yet, if you happen to
know the family of a Law Enforcement officer, take some time
to express your thanks and appreciation for what they do and
endure. Let’s be thankful for all the freedoms we have and
never forget all those who make it possible.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
