“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Memorial Day is a day during which many people will set
aside a portion of today to reflect upon those who have made
an impact on their lives. For some it is a time to remember
the sacrifices made by those in the Armed Forces; while
others use today as a time to memorialize friends and family
who have left this world.
This year, as we remember people, let’s spend a portion of
the day recalling and being thankful for those who were our
spiritual mentors. Was there someone or someone(s) who took
us under their wings and helped us to develop our spirit?
If so, let’s take a part of the day to recall their
influence in our lives. Centuries ago, an early Christian
writer inspired his readers with the memories of their
spiritual forerunners; then noted, “… since we have so great
a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside
every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us,
and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
…” (Hebrews 12:1). Who’s cheering us on?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
