“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
As
Jesus was beginning His public ministry at the age of about
thirty He was reintroduced to a group of followers by John
the Baptist who proclaimed, “Behold, the Lamb of God who
takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) Here He was,
the Son of a carpenter and a carpenter Himself from the
rural town of Nazareth and now He was being called their
“Messiah”. Before those who had known Him previously could
be effective disciples, they had to see Him in a new light.
Today, we want to call upon you to be a religious person;
but, for some, that might be easier said than done. What
has been your experience with religion? Was it something
your family ignored when you were a child? Have you had a
negative experience with a bad church or an evil church-goer?
Has religion been nothing more than a guilt-factory for
you?
If you have had anything less than a positive experience
with religion, we want you to give it a second-chance and
look at it through new eyes. If you would like some help
seeing religion; again, for the first time, give us a shot.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
