“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

After struggling with some ailments, I gave up running and
started biking this summer. You know what, they are right
when they say “It’s like riding a bike”. After years of
being a pedestrian, bike-riding came back easily. What
didn’t come so easy; though, was riding without my hands on
the handlebars. I tried it – briefly – but, I just couldn’t
do it. While part of it might be a lack of balance, a good
part of it was the awareness that I break easier than I used
to and the fear of that happening.
Often we deride fear; but, it can be a positive. Fear of
failure, encourages us to prepare. Fear of getting caught
makes us think twice. Fear of embarrassment causes us to
work harder. The fear of the wrath of God can keep us on
the straight-and-narrow.
A life consumed by fear can be a terrible existence; but,
one seasoned with it can be better. What do we fear?
Should we be afraid of anything else?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
