“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

There is a lot of talk these days about firearms. The topic
of guns typically finds itself somewhere between the 2nd
Amendment to the Constitution and the desire to feel safe
and secure in our communities. While the focus is often on
the gun itself, the true debate is actually on the owner.
Firearms are amoral; they are merely tools in the hands of a
possessor.
In a parallel, there is another tool that has come under
scrutiny – stuff. Whether it’s money or possessions, there
are some people who advocate spiritual responsibility by
disposing of what we have while others laud possessions as
reinforcements given by God to those who are pleasing to
Him.
Honestly, wealth, like guns is neither good nor bad the
question is it’s place in our lives. The Bible warns, “…
the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some
by longing for it have wandered away from the faith, and
pierced themselves with many a pang.” (I Timothy
6:10) How do we see wealth – as a tool to be used or
the ultimate treasure to be had?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
