“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

October 9, 2008
Being a fan of just about any kind of food, I can safely say
that there isn’t much I don’t like. Suffice it to say, you
don’t get a body like this being sustained by tofu and
carrot juice! I love to eat; but, unfortunately, in this
case, love isn’t a many splendid thing.
While you might detect a bit of tongue-in-cheek in the
preceding, there is an element of truth in the adage “we are
what we eat”. Whether good or bad, what we put in our
bodies stays there.
In an interesting twist, the Bible parallels this type of
thinking when it observes, “The words of a whisperer are
like dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost
parts of the body.” (Proverbs 18:8) Just like a physique
crafted by those tiny little M&Ms, bits of gossip and idle
talk make up our personality. Every time we listen to
someone’s criticism of someone else our thought-process (and
eventually our attitudes) are molded.
Let’s do our minds a favor. Let’s go on a gossip-free
diet. Our lives and our attitudes will look a lot better.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
