“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

When I was a child, I was often told “You have to use the
right tool for the right job”. This advice typically
followed my using a good tool in a bad way … like trying to
hammer with a tire iron. It will work; but, it’s not very
effective.
Have you ever wondered why God gave us the ability to
speak? Most of us would probably get the basic answer of
“communication” correct; but, there is something more. When
the early church leaders reflected on our gift of gab one of
them noted that , “… there must be no filthiness and silly
talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather
giving of thanks.” (Ephesians 5:4) When God created us with
the ability to talk, He didn’t do it so we could tell off
color jokes, gossip or tear people down; He gave us the
ability so that we could encourage one another and praise
Him.
Our ability to communicate is one the greatest tools we
have. Are we using it at the right time for the right
purpose?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
