“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
One of the first things asked about a newborn child – after
counting all the fingers and toes – is, “Who do they look
like?”. Which parent’s hair did they inherit … whose eyes
did they get … whose nose are they sporting. Fortunately
for our children, they took after their mother!
The way we look is often a direct result of our genetics.
We take on the descriptors of our parents. We get what they
have. In an interesting way, this same principle of nature
is true in spirituality – we look like our spiritual
“parent”. If we are children of God, His nature shows in
us; but, if we choose to worship and serve satan, we’ll
adopt his characteristics.
Thankfully, when God created man, He predisposed us to
follow His nature when He observed, “Let Us make man in Our
image, according to Our likeness …”. (Genesis 1:26) While
we have a choice in our appearance, it’s good to know that
if we try, our natural nature is to resemble God. The
question for the ages is “Do we?”.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
