“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Most of us know what we do; but, do we ask why do we do what
we do? As I reflect upon this statement it kind of reminds
me of an old Roger Miller song; but, despite its make up,
there is a value in it.
As we live our lives we grow comfortable with what we
typically do: but, the question is “Why?”. Why do act a
certain way … why do we worship with a particular style …
why do we hold on to our everyday values? Do we do it
because it’s the best way of doing it or do we do it because
that’s the way we’ve always done it.
There is a certain level of comfort in a routine; but,
every-once-in-a-while we need to do an emotional inventory.
By doing what we do in the way that we do it, are we going
to end up where we eventually want to be? Habits,
routines and structure make life easier; but, are ours the
best?
As we go through this week, let’s ask “why”. Hopefully
there will something we’ll discover that will lead us to
another question – “How can we do it better?”.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
