“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Today
is we celebrate Labor Day. There are several special events
attached to today … it’s the beginning of dove season, it is
the last “unofficial” holiday of the summer, for many it’s a
day off from work; but, at the heart of the celebration is
the American worker. Today, we honor the working class.
One of the best feelings in the world is completing a job
well done. Doing a good job that results in a first-class
product or service makes us feel worthwhile. On the other
hand, working hard for nothing can be deflating. So how do
we know if there is value in what we do?
Centuries ago, a religious man noted, “… be steadfast,
immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing
that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Corinthians
15:58) Basically, the apostle encouraged hard work by
reminding people that any work centered in God is
productive. No, it doesn’t have to be “church work” per se;
but, if we do what we do in a way in which God can be
glorified, we’ll find value in our labor.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
