“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

To
most of us parents, it’s a rather common retort; but, the
phrase “I know how to do that” isn’t relegated just to young
people. Whether it’s in response to a child being taught
something by a parent or a new employee being mentored by a
supervisor, often, in our most prideful voice; we don’t want
people to think that we can’t do something. Sometimes,
there is truth in the statement; but, all too often, we make
the brash comment only to find ourselves struggling with our
ignorance once the teacher is gone.
When someone offers to teach us, let’s shelve our ego and
allow them to show us. Most times, whether it’s the first
or umpteenth time we’ve been instructed, we are bound to
learn something new; but, even if it’s a task with which we
are very familiar, we can serve others by giving them the
joy and satisfaction of teaching us something … even if we
already know how to do it. Remember, it’s not always about
education, at times it’s about selflessness.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
