“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

One
of the allures of religious worship is the desire to spend
time with God. On the weekend, many of us find time to do
this; but, there is another way we can feel an even closer
bond with Him. When God created prayer, He did so not just
as an element of formal worship; He also encouraged us to
use it as often as we can.
During prayer, it’s easy find value in an appeal before God
to get Him to see things our way; by petitioning Him with a
request. While this can be a benefit of prayer, an even
greater one may be it’s mirror image. By spending time with
God in prayer, often one of the most special things we can
gain is the ability to see things in His way. Could it be
that the most beneficial phrase in prayer isn’t “grant me” …
rather it’s “show me”?
This weekend, let’s spend time with God in worship; but,
let’s not forget about the opportunity we have throughout
the week and “ … pray without ceasing …” (I Thessalonians
5:17)
