“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Today is a day that reminds us of the price of freedom.
Seven years ago, our free and open society was ambushed by
people who had been welcomed into it. Our nation does not
believe in exclusiveness and on one day, that blessing
became a curse.
There is a mixed blessing in freedom … in politics and in
religion. Just as free borders exposes us to dangers, so
does the freedom to be able to choose our own religious
path. Neither our nation nor our God holds a gun to our
head and demands that we believe a certain way; but, in our
liberty to choose, we are at risk of either choosing the
wrong path – or even no path at all.
At the time of the early Christians, liberty was not as
common as it is today; but, one of the early church Fathers
warned of it’s dangers when he wrote, “Act as free men, and
do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it
as bondslaves of God.” (I Peter 2:16).
Let’s relish our freedom; but, at the same time, lets make
the best possible use of this God-given blessing.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
